The Lexus LC500 Convertible has been handed a range of performance-inspired accessories from TRD in Japan. The package aims to improve the drop-top’s aerodynamics and lend it a more distinctive appearance.

At the front, the LC500 gains a splitter providing improved downforce, with the lip effectively doubling as a bumper guard. With the splitter fitted, ground clearance is approximately 30 mm.

Along its flanks, the convertible gains a set of side skirts designed to match the shape of the rear fender and improve airflow along the body (thus increasing the car’s straight-line stability). Take note, however, that when fitted the factory jack cannot be used.

At the rear, you’ll find a diffuser that likewise improves downforce and straight-line stability. There’s also a rear spoiler, while a more dramatic floating-type wing is available as well.

Lending the LC500 a true speedster feel is an aerodynamics cowling that fits behind the driver and passenger headrests. When attached, it restricts access to the rear seats.

The front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser and spoiler are all formed from PPE resin, while the wing and cowling are fashioned from CFRP resin.

TRD also offers three 21-inch forged alloy wheel designs (in Diamond Grey Metallic, Ice Black and Lunanium Gun Metallic), which are shod in 245/40 R21 front and 275/35 R21 rear tyres.

For the record, the LC500 Convertible is scheduled to arrive in South Africa in 2021.
