An aftermarket company in Thailand has released a conversion kit for the Toyota Fortuner that effectively hands the popular SUV a Hilux-inspired face.

Bangkok-based LK Auto – which uses a logo suspiciously similar to the Japanese automaker’s Gazoo Racing insignia – claims its upgrade is completed to a factory standard.

In Thailand, the recently refreshed Hilux is offered in Revo Rocco guise and it’s this variant’s front end that has been borrowed for LK Auto’s Fortuner face swap.

What appears to have started life as a Fortuner TRD Sportivo (another interesting variant offered in Thailand) gains Hilux headlamps, chunky black plastic cladding for its grille and distinctive front foglamps.

This particular Fortuner is finished in two-tone exterior paint, with the Hilux Revo Rocco’s wheel arch cladding also included. The company has furthermore added fresh wheels wrapped in off-road rubber from BFGoodrich. Interestingly, there appear to have been no significant changes round back.

While the refreshed Hilux has already launched in some markets (starting with Thailand), Toyota South Africa Motors said in June the local launch was “still some months away”. It’s a similar case for the upgraded Fortuner.
