BMW has released a revealing teaser image showing its new 4 Series coupé’s front end just days ahead of the new model's full unveiling.

The Munich-based firm published the shadowy image (which we’ve lightened a touch to give you a better view) when announcing that the full unveiling of the G22-generation model would take place on the evening of 2 June.

The teaser confirms (after a flurry of earlier spy shots) the new 4 Series will indeed wear a tall kidney grille similar to that debuted by the Concept 4 of 2019. And, like on that show car, the numberplate will seemingly be affixed to the grille.

We’d guess the model in the teaser image is the M440i xDrive, which BMW has already confirmed will employ a turbocharged 3,0-litre line-six petrol engine worth 275 kW, while also featuring 48 V mild-hybrid technology (adding 8 kW for short bursts).

Separately, as spotted by BMWBlog, M boss Markus Flasch took to Instagram to confirm the new M3 (G80) and M4 (G82) would be revealed in September 2020.
