The first official images of the new Citroën C4 have been released, confirming the third-generation French hatchback has adopted an SUV-inspired design.

Citroën claims the newcomer’s “elevated and assertive stance” means the body shape has “all the elegance and dynamism of a hatchback, while subtly adopting certain SUV traits for added strength and character”.

Indeed, the company says the hatchback’s new silhouette “plays with several design codes, which marks the beginning of a new era of Citroën style”.

In Europe, the new C4 will be offered with a choice of powertrains; fully electric (with the ë-C4 badge), petrol or diesel. Citroën has yet to release details about engine options, promising more information will be revealed further down the line.

The firm also says the cabin will boast “advanced comfort seats”, vast interior space and “practical on-board features”.

Expect more details to be released at the end of June 2020…
