When the new Kia Grand Sedona was revealed in June 2020, the firm opted not to release images of the newcomer’s cabin. But now that’s changed.

Pictured in Korean specification, the fourth-generation flagship people-mover’s cabin provides what Kia describes as a “spacious, comfortable and futuristic environment”.

The Korean company says the new Grand Sedona boasts “significant levels of space” for passengers in all rows, while claiming “premium” materials and “innovative technology” are used throughout. With the wheelbase growing by 30 mm to 3 090 mm (and the vehicle’s overall length up 40 mm to 5 155 mm), Kia says there’s more space for third-row passengers and “best-in-class” luggage capacity.

The facia takes on a “wrap-around” design and features two screens with haptic touch controls. The two digital displays are housed under a single piece of glass, linking the firm’s 12,3-inch digital instrument cluster with its 12,3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Kia says “many” infotainment functions can be controlled using the touch-sensitive buttons around the screen, with a similar panel further down the centre console taking care of the climate control system. You’ll also notice the “shift-by-wire” transmission dial, with replaces the traditional gear lever.

Depending on the market, the Grand Sedona will be offered in three- or four-row seating configurations, with space for seven, nine or 11 occupants. Second-row passengers, meanwhile, gain access to back-of-seat USB chargers (in Korean-spec models, anyway).

Kia Motors South Africa says the newcomer is scheduled to hit local roads at some point in 2021. No word yet on local powertrain options.
