The new Koenigsegg Gemera has been revealed, billed as the world’s first “mega-GT” and the firm’s first four-seater. Just 300 examples will be built.

The Gemera combines a twin-turbo 2,0-litre, three-cylinder “Freevalve” engine with a trio of electric motors, resulting in total system outputs of 1 268 kW and 3500 N.m. The result, says the brand, is a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in a mere 1,9 seconds and a top speed in excess of 400 km/h.

The three electric motors – one for each rear wheel and one on the crankshaft of the engine – boast a combined output of 800 kW. Koenigsegg says the Gemera can drive “completely silent up to 300 km/h”, with the 800 V battery allowing an all-electric range of up to 50 km.

According to the Swedish firm, the newcomer can seat “four large adults comfortably”, while still offering space for their luggage. It employs has a carbon-fibre monocoque as well as all-wheel steering, all-wheel drive and all-wheel torque vectoring. Isofix anchorage points are even available for both rear seats, should you wish to scare small children...

“Ultimate performance has belonged to the world of two-seaters with very limited luggage space – until now,” said CEO and founder, Christian von Koenigsegg. “The Gemera is a completely new category of car where extreme megacar meets spacious interior and ultimate environmental consciousness. We call it a mega-GT.”
