Mercedes-Benz has confirmed the peak power output of the new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series ahead of its official unveiling.

While the German firm's most hardcore GT yet has already broken cover on video (and in a handful of leaked images), the wraps will officially come off on 15 July.

So, what sort of power does the “re-engineered” twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8 generate in the GT Black Series? Well, the folks from Affalterbach have confirmed a towering figure of 537 kW. For the sake of comparison, the “standard” GT R makes 430 kW, while the GT63 S 4-Door Coupé generates 470 kW.

Mercedes-AMG says its development team has “pulled out all the stops” with the Black Series, handing the fresh flagship model “sophisticated aerodynamics, intelligent lightweight design, high driving dynamics and expressive design”.
