The covers have finally come off the new Nissan Juke, with the second-generation version of the Japanese firm’s crossover growing in size and adopting fresh technology.

Set to make its official debut at the Frankfurt motor show, the new Juke offers what Nissan describes as “new levels of performance and technology”, within a “striking yet roomier” crossover body.

The automaker says the new Juke boasts larger dimensions, fresh 19-inch alloy wheels and a “coupé-style floating roof design”. Equipped in Europe with LED technology as standard, the latest Juke retains its circular headlamps but adds a new Y-shaped signature to the lenses.

The Juke now measures 4 210 mm long (up 85 mm), 1 800 mm wide (up 35 mm) and 1 595 mm tall (up 25 mm), while also weighing some 23 kg less on average, according to the firm. Inside, Nissan claims rear knee-room has been increased by 58 mm and rear head-room by some 11 mm. Boot capacity, meanwhile, is now a claimed 422 litres (up some 20 percent).

In Europe, power comes from a turbocharged 1,0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine offering 86 kW and available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (the latter with paddle shifters).

The firm says the new model is the “most connected Nissan ever”, available with ProPilot technology (offering electronically assisted steering, acceleration and braking), intelligent emergency braking (with pedestrian and cyclist recognition), traffic sign recognition, intelligent lane intervention, rear cross traffic alert and blind spot intervention.

The latest version of the NissanConnect infotainment system, meanwhile, includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, and is run through an eight-inch touchscreen display.
