The first official images of the third-generation Dacia Sandero and Sandero Stepway have been revealed, with the Renault-badged versions surely hot on their tails.

Shown alongside the equally box-fresh Logan, Dacia promises the new Sandero will offer “increased style, equipment and versatility” while retaining the brand’s fundamentals of “simplicity and reliability”.

The company says the new Sandero’s overall design is “more streamlined” than that of its predecessor thanks to a sloping windshield and lower roofline. Ground clearance is unchanged but wider tracks and flush-mounted wheels have been adopted.

The new Sandero Stepway, meanwhile, gains a model-specific bonnet along with a chrome-effect “Stepway” logo under the grille and curved fenders above the foglamps. The new models furthermore debut the firm’s new Y-shaped lighting signature, front and rear.

Of course, in markets such as South Africa, the Dacia-built Sandero, Sandero Stepway and Duster are sold wearing the Renault badge. The Romanian brand has been a subsidiary of the Renault since 1999.

The company says it will reveal more details (hopefully including powertrain information) about the new models on 29 September 2020.
