Remember the Rezvani Tank unveiled in 2017 (and offered in “Military Edition” guise and “Tank X” form the following year)? Well, there's a new version of the boldly styled, body-on-frame off-roader ... and it's even more extreme.

Yes, the California-based firm has given both the “standard” (although we’re not quite sure that’s an appropriate word) Tank and the flagship Tank X an overhaul, with the latter inheriting a supercharged 6,2-litre V8 from the Dodge Demon.

Thanks to some further fettling by Rezvani, the company claims the V8 delivers more than 745 kW and 1 180 N.m to all four corners via an on-demand four-wheel-drive system.

The company says “extensive development” was done on the Tank X's suspension in a bid to make the vehicle “one of the most planted and comfortable SUVs on the planet”. The Tank X boasts 37-inch tyres, Fox racing suspension, a Dynatrac axle set (with air lockers and an air compressor) and Dynatrac ProGrip front and rear brakes. Fox racing 3.0 internal bypass shocks are offered as an option.

Many elements of the interior – such as the seat style, stitching and colour of the gauge cluster – are customisable, while the 7,9-inch central infotainment screen (with Apple CarPlay functionality) is standard.

Tick the “Military Edition” box and you score items like thermal night-vision, kevlar armour, bulletproof glass, military-grade runflat tyres, underside explosive protection, electro-magnetic pulse protection, electrified door handles, sirens and strobe lights, a smoke screen, blinding front and rear lights, magnetic dead bolts, gas masks and a hypothermia kit.

"The focus of this generation’s Tank was to be athletic in design and stance, have a refined sportscar ride and suspension, have a luxurious interior, and surpass 1 000 horsepower all in a car that’s easily a daily driver," said CEO, Ferris Rezvani.

The new Rezvani Tank is offered in base, Tank X, Tank Military Edition and Tank X Military Edition forms. The flagship model starts at $349 000 (which translates to around R5,4-million)…
