Haval has effectively revealed its second-generation H2, although the crossover has been rebranded as the Chulian (meaning “First Love”) in China.

Unveiled at Auto China 2020 in Beijing, Haval’s new model is built on the brand’s fresh (yet particularly unfortunately named) "Lemon" platform.

While it will likely soldier on with the H2 badge in global markets, the crossover will adopt the Chulian moniker in its domestic market.

Haval has yet to release any detailed specifications but rumours suggest the newcomer will draw urge from a turbocharged 1,5-litre petrol engine (with 112 kW and 210 N.m, up from the current unit's 105 kW and 202 N.m). Expect transmission choices to include a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Like the Concept H that effectively served as a preview to this model, the new H2 features a particularly bold chrome-effect grille and interesting design elements below the headlamps. Judging by these images from Haval, it rides on two-tone 18-inch alloys.

The original H2 debuted in 2014, a year after Great Wall Motors launched its Haval sub-brand. It touched down in South Africa in mid-2017, before a facelift arrived early in 2020.
