Hyundai has released the first teaser images of its upcoming new Elantra, confirming the sedan will adopt a new “four-door coupé” body style.

The Korean firm says the new seventh-generation model (which has also been teased on video) “showcases an edgy and aggressive look based on parametric shapes and textures”, reflecting Hyundai’s latest design identity.

Underpinned by a new platform, Hyundai promises the upcoming new Elantra will deliver a “sporty four-door coupé look”, while being longer, lower and wider than its forebears.

The company says the new model will return to its “sport sedan roots”, featuring an “ambitious” design theme (something the firm describes as “Parametric Dynamics” design, which effectively sees three lines meet at one point).

Inside, Hyundai says we can expect a “driver-focused user experience”, with the centrally sited display and the (seemingly digital) instrument cluster “harmoniously integrated”.

The new Elantra will be revealed in West Hollywood, California on the evening of March 17 (so, likely early on the 18th for us here in South Africa).
