Earlier in 2019, CARmag.co.za reported that Toyota Supra chief engineer Tetsuya Tada said the A90-generation (check out local pricing here) was developed “with tuning in mind”. This statement did not go unnoticed, as the folks over at Litchfield have already upped the power of the Japanese sportscar.

According to the UK-based company, the B58 engine (which, of course, also powers the BMW Z4 M40i roadster) required only some straightforward remapping to increase its output. For the record, the standard Supra, which we recently sampled in Port Elizabeth, churns out a claimed 250 kW and 500 N.m of torque.

However, after testing the standard engine on a dyno, Litchfield suggested otherwise, with the Supra registering around 280 kW and 529 N.m. This further encouraged the British tuner to inject the rear-driven coupé with some extra power. The 3,0-litre turbocharged inline-six under the tuned Supra’s elongated bonnet now produces some 313 kW and 597 N.m.

The tuner has announced that additional mechanical upgrades, such as an in-house developed suspension lowering package and “functional” carbon-fibre items, will soon be available. Cosmetic revisions are also in the engineering phase.
