Hyundai Automotive South Africa has added a 12-seater flagship derivative to its local H-1 range.

Priced at R664 900, the newcomer commands a R10 000 premium over on the 2,5 Elite nine-seater on which it is based.

Featuring four rows of three seats, the new H-1 derivative effectively gains an extra rear bench, which can be moved forward to increase luggage space when not in use.

The new model employs the same 2,5-litre turbodiesel engine as the nine-seater, sending 125 kW and 441 N.m maximum to the rear axle via a five-speed automatic transmission.

It also shares that model’s trim level, which includes items such as a touchscreen-based infotainment system, cruise control, a reversing camera (with the rear-view mirror doubling as the display), climate control and electric folding side-mirrors.

The 12-seater joins an H-1 range that was facelifted in June 2018. Interestingly, the six-seater H-1 Multicab derivative, which had earlier been discontinued, has now been revived for “individual orders” (priced at R553 900).

Hyundai’s seven-year/200 000 km warranty and a five-year/90 000 km service plan are included as standard.

Hyundai H-1 2,5 Panel Van: R476 900
Hyundai H-1 2,5 Multicab: R553 900
Hyundai H-1 2,4 Executive Bus: R527 900
