Kia Motors South Africa has added a trio of turbodiesel variants to its popular Seltos range, expanding the local line-up to seven derivatives.

The CRDI-badged Seltos models employ the Korean firm’s latest-generation 1,5-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, sending 86 kW and 250 N.m (the latter between 1 500 and 2 750 r/min) for the front wheels. Kia says the oil-burning variants will hit 100 km/h from standstill in 11,5 seconds, before topping out at 176 km/h.

The diesel-flavoured Seltos is offered with a choice of two specification levels. The base EX model is available with a six-speed manual gearbox (R410 995) or an automatic transmission (R428 995) with the same number of cogs, while the mid-tier EX+ derivative (R446 995) ships standard with an automatic ‘box.

As a reminder, the Seltos range already includes a naturally aspirated 1,6-litre petrol engine and a turbocharged 1,4-litre petrol unit. As with these other Seltos models, the newcomers feature a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty along with a five-year/90 000 km service plan.
