The facelifted Audi Q7 has finally landed in South Africa, with the line-up again comprising just a single derivative at launch.

Of course, we expect the 310 kW TDI-badged SQ7 to join the range either later in 2020 or (perhaps more likely) early in 2021.

For now, though, only the Q7 45TDI Quattro will be offered locally, again powered by the Ingolstadt-based firm’s 3,0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine, sending an unchanged 183 kW (at 2 900 r/min) and 600 N.m (from as low as 1 500 r/min) to all four corners via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The price for the Q7 45TDI Quattro? Audi SA lists a figure of R1 328 500, which is some R192 000 more expensive than the pre-facelift model. Of course, we have yet to learn what sort of kit is included as standard, as the German firm may well have bolstered this list.

We do know the updated Q7 gains a new grille with upright slats, redesigned headlamps and a fresh chrome strip linking the flat taillamps. Perhaps the most obvious update, though, comes inside, where the German company has added its latest stacked touchscreen arrangement to the facia.

Interestingly, the facelift has seen the Q7 grow in length by 11 mm to 5 063 mm in length, which Audi says allows the SUV to outdo its “direct competitors” in terms of interior length as well as headroom and elbow room in the front and rear.

Expect Audi SA to release full specification details in the coming days...
