Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa has added a new special-edition Figo Blu model to its local range, pricing the newcomer at R203 800.

The local arm of the Blue Oval brand says some 360 units of the Figo Blu will be produced, each based on the 1,5 Trend hatchback derivative.

So, what do you score for the R8 000 premium the Figo Blu commands over the model on which it is based? Well, the newcomer gains a black mesh grille, blue trim around the front foglamps, model-specific black 15-inch alloys, black side-mirror caps and decals that extend along the length of the lower section of the doors.

The Figo Blu is offered in a choice of three exterior colours (Moondust Silver, Oxford White or Smoke Grey), each paired with a black roof.

Inside, all four door panels gain blue gloss trim inserts, with other cabin updates including a leather-clad steering wheel, blue stitching for the gearshift gaiter and a “Figo Blu” logo embroidered on the front floor mats (and repeated on the front seats).

Power comes from Ford’s naturally aspirated 1,5-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine, which delivers an unchanged 88 kW and 150 N.m to the front wheels via a five-speed transmission.

“We developed Figo Blu for our customers who are bold, seek uniqueness and push beyond the boundaries,” said Doreen Mashinini, general manager for marketing at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa.

“The standard Figo hatchback is already a very competitive offering in the compact segment, but this special edition model allows customers to really stand out from the crowd,” she added.

A four-year/120 000 km warranty and four-year/60 000 km service plan (with 15 000 km intervals) are included in the price as standard.
