Despite the as-yet-unrevealed new Land Cruiser 300 looming on the horizon, Toyota South Africa Motors has announced a small update for its Land Cruiser 200 VX-R derivative.

While the GX-R model soldiers on unchanged, the VX-R variant has gained a 14-speaker JBL Premium sound system and a twin-screen rear seat entertainment arrangement. The latter includes two 11,6-inch displays with multimedia inputs located in the rear console.

Six exterior colours are available across the range, with “Sparkling Black Pearl” replacing “Attitude Black”. “Midnight Blue” and “Sunset Dune” have been discontinued, while buyers have the option of either black or beige interior trim on the VX-R model.

As a reminder, the Land Cruiser 200 is powered by a 4,5-litre turbodiesel V8 engine, delivering 195 kW and 650 N.m to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

Pricing now stands at R1 086 200 for the GX-R variant and R1 510 100 for the VX-R, regardless of chosen interior trim colour. A three-year/100 000 km warranty is included, along with a nine-service/90 000 km service plan (with intervals of 10 000 km).
