Audi South Africa has confirmed it plans to add a new 35 TDI variant to its refreshed A4 range in February 2021.

Having arrived on local shores at the start of October 2020, the facelifted A4 range includes two 2,0 TFSI variants – the 35 TFSI with 110 kW/270 N.m and the 40 TFSI with 140 kW/320 N.m, each featuring 12 V mild-hybrid technology – plus the 260 kW S4 at launch.

However, 2021 will bring a new 2,0-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, sending 110 kW and 320 N.m to the front axle. The Ingolstadt-based firm's local arm has yet to release performance and consumption figures (nor pricing) for this upcoming derivative.

Interestingly, the pre-facelift A4 line-up also included an oil-burning option but that derivative (badged 40 TDI) made a more robust 140 kW and 400 N.m.
