Bentley has whipped the covers off its “significantly revised” Bentayga, handing the facelifted luxury SUV fresh exterior styling and “even more cosseting” cabin.

From what we can tell, all engines carry over unchanged, so the line-up will again include the company’s 404 kW turbocharged 4,0-litre V8 petrol engine, along with a 320 kW turbodiesel V8, a plug-in hybrid powertrain and the turbocharged 6,0-litre W12 engine (a flagship Speed model is again on the cards).

So, what’s new? Well, the Bentayga’s updated look brings it neatly in line with its siblings, the third-generation Continental GT and the new Flying Spur. Indeed, the Crewe-based firm says “every panel” at the front of the car has been redesigned.

The grille is both larger and more upright than before, while new LED matrix headlamps have been adopted and sited higher than before. There’s also a “more aggressive” front bumper, while heated “wet-arm” windscreen wipers (with 22 washer jets in each arm) have been introduced.

At the rear, Bentley says the SUV has also “undergone a major transformation”, with a “total redesign” of its rump (complete with a 20 mm increase to the rear track width), including a new full-width tailgate incorporating new taillamps. The licence plate, meanwhile, has been moved down into the bumper, while the wheel design is fresh, too.

Inside, changes include the adoption of a new central facia and steering wheel, fresh door trim and all-new seats. There’s also an upgraded infotainment system run through a 10,9-inch screen and now featuring wireless Apple CarPlay, along with Android Auto. Bentley furthermore says passengers in the rear now enjoy “significantly” more space (plus a larger touchscreen remote control tablet), with legroom increased by up to 100 mm depending on the configuration.

“With the new Bentayga, we’re repositioning the pinnacle of the luxury SUV segment to be even higher, even further away from the competition,” said

Adrian Hallmark, chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors.

“We’ve listened to our customers and made improvements to the areas most important to them, and the new Bentayga is a thoroughly modern and beautiful extension of the original car’s abilities and achievements,” he said.
