Lexus South Africa has introduced a refreshed version of its CT200h, updating the interior and exterior styling of the niche hybrid hatchback.

Still priced at R529 300 (with a four-year/100 000 km maintenance plan as standard), the updated CT200h gains the latest Lexus family spindle grille, new 16-inch 10-spoke alloys and the option of two-tone paintwork. Round back, you'll find new garnish and a redesigned lower bumper.

Inside, the central display screen has been increased in size from seven to 10,3 inches, while new materials and colours are also on offer.

As before, the hybrid system combines a 1,8-litre Atkinson Cycle petrol engine with an electric motor, taking total output to 100 kW. Lexus claims a combined fuel figure of 4,1 L/100 km and CO2 emissions of 95 g/km.

Interestingly, reports suggest that the upcoming UX crossover will ultimately replace the slow-selling CT200h (for the record, just two units were sold in South Africa in January 2018) as the brand's entry-level offering.
