Looking to take your Ford Ranger into the battlefield? Then military specialist Ricardo has the perfect package for you. This build includes a number of safety and defensive features to make it a battle-worthy bakkie.

Options fitted to this formidable Ranger build include rollover protection, a ring mounted weapon system, an armoured ballistic underfloor and armoured glass. Among the off-road extras are lightweight but heavy-duty front and rear bumpers, skid plates for the radiator, powertrain and fuel tank, rock sliders and improved wading/fording protection. Topping off the build are NATO IRR paint and camouflage, as well as four-point seat harnesses.

Further features include an enhanced 24V electrical system to manage the power requirements and ECM (Electronic Countermeasures) protection from radio signal jamming devices. Optionally, the chassis can be equipped with upgraded springs, dampers, brakes, heavy-duty wheels and all-terrain tyres.

The build is based on the 2,0-litre twin-turbodiesel model with the standard power output of 157 kW and 500 N.m of torque. Ricardo’s reason for using the Ranger was to show how this workhorse of the Ranger stable can offer a highly cost-effective multi-role transportation solution for defence and other security-related applications.
