Roush Performance, together with 5.11 Tactical, an American firm specialising in tactical clothing and equipment, have revealed the F-150 5.11 Tactical Edition, a “purpose-built” Ford F-150-based bakkie boasting more power, extra off-road kit and exterior updates.

Limited to 150 units for the 2020 model year, the Roush F-150 5.11 Tactical Edition’s 5,0-litre V8 petrol engine has been equipped with an uprated supercharger, boosting the standard unit's outputs of 296 kW and 542 N.m of torque to a whopping 485 kW and 827 N.m. Another mechanical modification comes in the form of the dual-tip active exhaust system, which enhances the V8’s burble. The latter fitment features four settings: touring, off-road, sport and a mode which can be customised via a smartphone app.

A Fox off-road suspension setup, which Roush says has been “engineered to deliver a smooth ride on any terrain”, has also been fitted. The tuned F-150 now rides higher from the ground, while General Grabber ATX rubber wraps bespoke 20-inch alloys for extra grip.

The exterior can be specified in Agate Black or Abyss Grey, with model-specific camouflage decals and 5.11 Tactical’s emblem, signifying this is a special Roush-tuned F-150. A revised grille, replete with signature lighting, front bumper cover and larger fender flares, is furthermore included in the package. An optional Baja-inspired roof rack with light bars is on offer, too.

Inside the leather-trimmed interior, a model-specific gauge cluster cluster and WeatherTech floor liners can be found. In addition, the Roush F-150 5.11 Tactical Edition comes standard with a tactical gear kit, featuring items such as a multi-tool, a duffle bag and spare keyfob.
