This, ladies and gentlemen, is the new BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupé, which the Munich-based automaker describes as “ultra-sporty, extrovert and polarising”.

Unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show, the brand says that its M8 Gran Coupé offers a “look ahead to the most exotic and alluring variant” of the new 8 Series range.

BMW says the concept previews production versions of the upcoming 8 Series Gran Coupé and M8 Gran Coupé, which are scheduled to be presented “during the course of 2019”.

The four-door concept features a carbon-fibre-reinforced-plastic roof and a Salève Vert paint finish, which contrasts with gold-coloured elements on the kidney grilles, side gills, brake calipers, alloys and twin tailpipes.

“The BMW 8 Series will take over as the new flagship model of the BMW line-up and, as such, combines unsurpassed sportiness and elegance,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, senior vice president at BMW Group Design.

BMW says its new concept is more than simply a luxury sports car with four doors.

“The BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupé is designed to stir things up, to polarise – it should move you emotionally,” said Domagoj Dukec, vice president design at BMW M and BMW i.

“With this car, we want to reach people who are looking for something special and who want to stand out from the crowd. Here, BMW M is unmistakably taking luxury out of its comfort zone.”
