Volkswagen has released a teaser image of the Golf 8, with the German brand’s head designer promising the new hatchback will be a “genuine eye-catcher”.

Set to be fully revealed later in 2019 (likely in October), the eighth-generation Golf is now undergoing what VW terms “final testing”.

The Wolfsburg-based firm says the Golf 8 will boast “design and digital innovations” launching it into the “era of electrified drives, a digitalised and connected interior world, assisted driving and online-based functions and services”.

The teaser image shows the five-door hatchback in black-and-white camouflage, with the word “Golf” integrated into the disguise (look closely along its flank). The logo on the Golf’s snout is blacked out, with the vehicle set to be one of the first to feature the brand’s redesigned insignia.

Klaus Bischoff, head of Volkswagen Design, promised the new Golf would be a “genuine eye-catcher”.

“At this time, we will not disclose all details of the new Golf, but you can already perceive its elegant proportions.”
