The new Porsche 911 revealed at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show is already available to order in South Africa ... and we have pricing.

Porsche South Africa told CARmag.co.za it had already opened order books for the 992-generation model, with first local deliveries expected to take place towards the middle of 2019.

The two models shown off at the reveal in Los Angeles were the 911 Carrera S and 911 Carrera 4S, and we have local pricing for both.

According to Porsche SA, the new Carrera S will be priced from R1 708 000, while the Carrera 4S will start at R1 797 000. Both prices include the Zuffenhausen-based brand’s standard three-year/100 000 km Driveplan.

As a reminder, both versions of the eighth-generation 911 employ a turbocharged 3,0-litre flat-six engine developing 331 kW, which represents a 22 kW hike over the outgoing model. Furthermore, they both use an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (apparently, a manual option will eventually be offered, too).

The rear-wheel-drive coupé needs a claimed 3,7 seconds to hit 100 km/h from standstill while the all-wheel-drive model is one-tenth quicker (specifying the optional Sport Chrono Package will cut a further 0,2 seconds off each time). The Carrera S tops out at 308 km/h, while the 4S runs out of puff at 306 km/h.
