Daytona, the local distributor for the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars brand, has confirmed that the first examples of new Cullinan will arrive in South Africa later in 2018.

According to Daytona, four units have already been allocated to South Africa for 2018, all scheduled to arrive on local shores “towards the end of the year”. In addition, the Sandton-based firm says that it is already taking orders for 2019.

No word yet on local pricing, although when the Cullinan touches down, it's expected to claim the title of South Africa’s most expensive SUV, eclipsing the Bentley Bentayga W12 (which is currently priced at R3 987 000).

Billed as an “all-terrain, high-bodied” vehicle, Rolls-Royce’s first SUV runs on the Goodwood-based brand’s latest aluminium architecture and is powered by a 6,75-litre twin-turbo V12 delivering 420 kW and 850 N.m to all four corners.

Named after the largest diamond ever discovered, Rolls-Royce describes the Cullinan as an “incredibly capable off-roader” that doesn’t sacrifice its on-road behaviour.
