The new A90-generation Toyota Supra was revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier in January. But now a digital artist has rendered three new variants – some more unlikely than others – based on fresh official images from the Japanese firm.
The first from X-Tomi Design is a base-spec Supra (pictured above). This model features black plastic front and rear bumpers, steel wheels (wrapped in what appear to be fairly high-profile tyres) and basic headlamps with orange indicator lenses.
In addition, its exterior door handles and entry-level-style side-mirror caps have been finished in black, while the A-pillar is now body colour (rather than gloss-black).
Next up is a cabriolet version (above), seemingly borrowing some inspiration from the latest BMW Z4 roadster that was developed alongside the Supra (and which provides the new Japanese sportscar with its 3,0-litre straight-six engine).
Interestingly, another digital artist, Kleber Silva of Brazil, also posted his take on a topless Supra (see above), again using the Z4 as a base but in this case effectively grafting the Supra's face onto the body of its German cousin.
X-Tomi Design also created an interesting “shooting brake” variant, seemingly (slightly) lengthening the body (and presumably the wheelbase, too), extending the roofline and adding a little more glass along the side.
For the record, the fifth-generation Supra is expected to launch in South Africa in the second quarter of 2019 and will be assembled (alongside the Z4) by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria.
