Jaguar has reportedly filed an application to trademark the “EV-Type” badge, leading to fresh speculation the F-Type could be replaced by an all-electric sportscar.

According to Autocar, the British firm made the application with the World Intellectual Property Organisation back in February (it is still listed as pending).

The publication says Jaguar is “actively considering an electric sportscar”, with the proposed badge an obvious reference to the much-celebrated E-Type.

Still, Autocar suggests the Coventry-based company “hasn’t firmly decided” what form the F-Type’s replacement will take, claiming Jaguar is considering two main options: an electric sportscar or another petrol-powered, front-engined sportscar.

As the publication points out, the F-Type has only just been facelifted, so a successor is still a few years off...
