An image seemingly showing the undisguised rear end of the Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI has found its way onto social media.

Posted to Instagram by wilcoblok, the photograph shows a white Golf 8 GTI wearing a large gloss-black rear spoiler (is this the Clubsport variant, perhaps?).

The pictured vehicle furthermore features dual-tone alloy wheels, a subtly lowered suspension and a pair of exhaust outlets (one at each corner of the rear end). The model designation below the Volkswagen badge has been covered.

The GTI is set to be the first Golf 8 derivative to launch in South Africa towards the end of 2020, with a 1,4 TSI variant and the flagship Golf R to follow.

A recent from Autocar claimed the Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI would be revealed at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show in March. It’s not yet clear whether the GTI Clubsport (this most extreme GTI will seemingly no longer wear the TCR badge) will be displayed at the Swiss show, too.

And the all-paw Golf R? Well, Autocar says the wraps will come off this model at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the United Kingdom in July.
