Images of the new BMW M3 and M4 have emerged online just a day ahead of the official scheduled reveal of the high-performance twins.

The four leaked images were posted on Instagram by Canada-based @carswithoutlimits.

The first photograph shows front three-quarter angles of both the G80-generation M3 and G82-generation M4, in their respective launch colours (Isle of Man Green and Sao Paulo Yellow).

The second image depicts the sedan and coupé’s rear ends, while the third and fourth gives us a closer look at the face of the new models. And, yes, both feature the controversial kidney grille design seen in earlier spy shots.

While the Munich-based firm will no doubt drop the juicy technical details after the official unveiling, we already know the “standard” models will be offered with a twin-turbo 3,0-litre straight-six petrol engine delivering 353 kW via a six-speed manual gearbox.

The Competition derivatives, meanwhile, will make 375 kW (just like the X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition) and feature an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. These models will initially be offered in rear-wheel-drive form and, at a later date, also in conjunction with BMW M’s latest all-wheel-drive system.
