A publication out of the United States claims to have insider information on the peak power and torque figures for the upcoming new Ford Mustang Mach 1.

According to Ford Authority, the Blue Oval brand’s familiar naturally aspirated 5,0-litre V8 will be tuned to deliver as much as 391 kW and 610 N.m in the Mach 1.

For the record, this engine makes 331 kW/529 N.m in the SA-spec Mustang GT, with the Mustang Bullitt generating 338 kW.

As Ford Authority points out, the new Mach 1 is expected to “indirectly replace” the Shelby GT350, which employs a naturally aspirated 5,2-litre V8 worth 392 kW and 581 N.m.

At the end of May 2020, Ford announced the return of the Mustang Mach 1 badge on a special-edition model, confirming it would arrive “later this year”. The Dearborn-based company says the upcoming Mach 1 will be the “most track-ready 5,0-litre Mustang ever”.
