A fresh report out of the United States claims a new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS is on the way, with its six-cylinder heart set to offer as much as 373 kW.

According to Car and Driver, the Zuffenhausen-based firm is working on a “lighter, stiffer and more powerful” version of the 718 Cayman GT4 that was revealed in June 2019 (and is pictured above). The newcomer is, of course, set to gain the RS badge.

The publication suggests the GT4 RS is scheduled to hit the market late in 2021 or early in 2022, although points out the COVID-19 pandemic could see those dates pushed back.

In 718 Cayman GT4, the German automaker’s naturally aspirated 4,0-litre flat-six makes 309 kW, spinning all the way to 8 000 r/min (and 294 kW in the latest Cayman and Boxster GTS 4.0 variants). The rumoured RS version, however, will generate up to 373 kW, according to Car and Driver.

In addition, we can expect the GT4 RS to feature even lower ride height, a further stiffened body and more aggressive body work.
