We’ve already seen one interesting render of the upcoming Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI and now a Russian digital artist has created another.

Using fresh photographs of the eighth-generation Golf as a base (and surely checking out spy photographs for extra inspiration, too), Nikita Chuyko from Kolesa.ru created the renderings you see above.

The imagined GTI model gains a new front bumper, complete with a larger air intake and a honeycomb lower grille. There’s also the obligatory red accent line that runs from headlamp to headlamp.

Chuyko’s rendering furthermore includes chunky side-sills, larger alloys, GTI badging (on the grille, flanks and tailgate) and two large exhaust outlets sited beneath a new rear bumper.

VW has already announced the performance variants in the new Golf range will be revealed “over the course of the next year”, with power for the Golf GTI, Golf GTI TCR and Golf R again coming from a turbocharged 2,0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (in various states of tune, of course).

Interestingly, the new GTI is scheduled to be the first Golf 8 derivative to arrive in South Africa “late in 2020”, with a 110 kW Golf 1,4 TSI and the range-topping R model following.
