A Suzuki representative says a bakkie version of the fourth-generation Jimny is “not on the agenda” despite the Japanese firm revealing a single-cab concept at the start of 2019.

Speaking to CarsGuide at the recent Tokyo Motor Show, the unnamed Suzuki official poured cold water on reports the company would offer a pick-up body style alongside the traditional SUV.

"We can't talk about future plans, but it's not something I've heard of. It's not on the agenda," the official told the publication.

In January 2019, a few weeks after the reveal of the concept, the head of Suzuki Automotive in Australia said he was “pushing very hard” for a production version.

In Namibia, of course, Suzuki already sells the Gypsy, a small 4x4 (built by Maruti Suzuki in India) offered with an optional pick-up conversion.
