Since its revival, the new Toyota Supra has gotten mixed reactions from the fans but the Japanese brand remains committed to its latest sportscar. According to Toyota’s chief engineer Tetsuya Tada, the brand intends to build on the Supra range by adding a more powerful GRMN derivative.

Bet Car Web reports that this decision shouldn’t come as a surprise as the Gazoo division has stated that the GRMN badge will always be used to distinguish a flagship. The new variant will retain BMW’s B58 turbocharged 3,0-litre straight-six but increase the power output up to 294 kW. The sportscar will also benefit from weight reduction by implementing carbon fibre and other lighter materials. It’ll also boast a stiffer suspension setup.

Toyota is considering a 2021 debut but it’s quite likely that an official reveal may happen this year.
