A new report out of Europe suggests Volkswagen is currently developing a coupé-style version of its box-fresh T-Cross.

According to sources cited by Spanish publication Motor.es, VW has already started development of the T-Cross Coupé, which the report claims will hit initial markets as early as the end of 2020.

While likely to share its external dimensions with the existing T-Cross crossover (to a large degree, anyway), the rumoured coupé-style variant is expected to be positioned above its conventionally bodied sibling but below the T-Roc.

The publication says the T-Cross Coupé will be set apart by its sloped roofline and more aggressively angled C-pillar.

If this rumour proves to be true, the new model will run on the Wolfsburg-based brand’s ubiquitous MQB platform and surely share the range of turbocharged engines already offered in the T-Cross.

For the record, the standard T-Cross is scheduled to launch in South Africa in mid-September.
