Opel has whipped the covers off its new, third-generation Vivaro midsize van, just two weeks after revealing the closely related Zafira Life multi-purpose vehicle.

As with the Zafira Life, the new Vivaro will be offered in three lengths: measuring 4,60 metres, 4,95 metres and 5,30 metres.

Furthermore, the Rüsselsheim-based firm says the new model will be available in "Cargo" panel van form, "Crew Cab" guise (with space for up to six occupants), as a platform chassis and in "Combi" people-carrier configuration.

Opel will also offer the new Vivaro with an all-wheel-drive system from Dangel. An electric version, meanwhile, is expected to be added to the range as early as 2020.

With a maximum cargo capacity of 6,6 cubic metres, the new Vivaro boasts a payload of up to 1 400 kg. Maximum trailer load, meanwhile, has increased to 2 500 kg.

Inside, various interesting safety and driver assistance systems will be offered, including a head-up display, a rear-view camera, forward collision alert, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking and cruise control. Available infotainment systems will run from a 7,0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality.

From what we understand, the new Vivaro is scheduled to launch in South Africa in November 2019...
