Audi has officially announced that the first series production example of its second-generation Q3, revealed back in July 2018, has rolled off the assembly line in Hungary.

The very first model to be built at the plant in Győr was finished in the same Turbo Blue hue as that used in the initial press material.

The Q3 will be offered with the choice of four turbocharged engines (three petrol and one diesel) in combination with front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Ahead of production of the second-generation Q3, a new body shop covering more than 80 000 square metres was built and 700 robots were newly installed. Audi Hungaria has an annual production capacity of 160 000 units, officially employing more than 12 500 people.

The new Q3 is the fifth model to be built at Győr, sharing the production line with the A3 Sedan, A3 Cabriolet, TT Coupé and TT Roadster.

“Nearly a third of all the Audis we deliver are SUVs. The production of a Q model is a clear commitment to our site in Hungary; it strengthens our competitiveness and thus secures the long-term success of Audi Hungaria,” said Achim Heinfling, managing director of Audi Hungaria.

“I am proud of our employees, who have managed the start of production of the Audi Q3 with many years of expertise and great passion for the model.”
