The facelifted Lexus RC F is expected to be revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, along with a special Track Edition model. But CARmag.co.za already has confirmation that both versions of the performance coupé are headed to South Africa.

Of course, when the standard RC coupé first launched locally back in 2015 (it has since been facelifted, with the updated model expected in South Africa soon), the high-performance RC F model was nowhere to be seen. While Toyota South Africa Motors seemingly had plans to bring the flagship model into the country, these later fell through.

This time, however, Toyota SA Motors tells us the soon-to-be-revealed facelifted RC F will make landfall towards the middle of 2019, with the special Track Edition interestingly also pencilled in for the local market. Pricing, naturally, has yet to be established, but we'll certainly keep our eyes and ears open.

Of course, since the updated model has not yet been revealed, we can’t tell you much about it (nor the Track Edition). Still, it’s worth keeping in mind that the pre-facelift version employed the Japanese automaker’s familiar 5,0-litre V8, which sent 351 kW and 530 N.m to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
