Volkswagen has revealed a new "Black Style" R-Line design package for the Tiguan, claiming it renders the crossover "yet more elegant and dynamic looking".

In Germany, Comfortline and Highline derivatives in the Tiguan range can now be combined with the “Black Style” R-Line pack. Interestingly, the package can be applied to only four exterior paint colours: Mother-of-Pearl-effect Oryx White, Pure White, Indium Grey Metallic and Pearl-effect Deep Black.

The “Black Style” package include sporty front and rear bumpers, chunkier side-skirts, wheelarch extensions and more aggressive air intake elements (the latter finished in black). The R-Line roof spoiler and roof rails are also black, as are the 19-inch “Sebring” alloy wheels (20-inch “Suzuka” items are optionally available, too).

Tinted rear side windows and rear screen are also included, while the side-mirror caps, rear bumper strip and window strips are all finished in black. Furthermore, look closely and you’ll notice black trim strips on the bumpers and doors plus a black strip running through the grille. And inside, you’ll find the R-Line leather multifunction sports steering wheel.

In Germany, the kit will set you back €3 365 (around R53 000), while the 20-inch alloys are priced at €490 (about R7 700). It’s not yet clear whether there are plans to offer this styling package here in South Africa.
