Mercedes-Benz South Africa has announced pricing for its X350d 4Matic model, with the V6-powered version of the German double-cab bakkie coming in at a little under R1-million in flagship form.

The X350d is now available to order locally, with deliveries set to start at the end of November 2018.

As with the four-cylinder models (the X220d and X250d), the six-cylinder turbodiesel will be offered in two trim levels: Progressive and Power. Both are fitted with all-wheel drive and an automatic transmission as standard.

The Mercedes-Benz X350d 4Matic Progressive is priced at R904 188, while the range-topping Power derivative comes in at R973 188. For the sake of comparison, the X250d tops out at R824 205.

“The much-anticipated Mercedes-Benz X-Class is well positioned to elevate the South African double-cab segment even further. It will do this not only by offering a dynamic design paired with luxurious interior and unparalleled performance, but also by being perfectly priced,” said Nadia Trimmel, head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Southern Africa.

“We are confident that the new ultimate V6 X-Class range-topper presents a next-to-none offering – combining modern design, safety, sophistication and a supreme level of comfort. The V6 reflects luxury and performance, best characterised by quality engineering and of course power like no other,” added Trimmel.

As a reminder, the X350d develops 190 kW and 550 N.m (the latter between 1 400 and 3 200 r/min) from its 3,0-litre, six-cylinder diesel heart, which Mercedes says is enough for a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in 7,9 seconds, before topping out at 205 km/h.
