Think Volkswagen has enough crossovers? Well, think again. The German firm has released a fresh teaser for a new sub-Tiguan offering set to be marketed in North America.

The shadowy image shows the front end of the newcomer, which features an interesting lighting signature. VW says the official reveal will take place on 13 October.

“We’re excited to share the first glimpse of the newest member of the Volkswagen family,” said Scott Keogh, president and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America.

“Great things come in small packages, as Volkswagen has proven throughout the years with its iconic Beetle, Golf and Jetta. This next car will be no exception.”

Of course, the Wolfsburg-based firm already offers the T-Cross and T-Roc in the space below the Tiguan but neither of these (nor other market-specific models such as the Nivus) is sold in the United States. This suggests the newcomer might be exclusive to that market.

Indeed, a leaked presentation slide from 2019 suggested VW planned to add something called the Tarek to its North American range. This model is thought to be closely related to the Tharu sold in China.
