Previously available as the M235i, BMW Motorsport has updated its Racing Cup sports coupé to the current model’s M240i moniker. The update includes optimised engine software, new end plates for the rear wing and an optional new driver’s seat to enhance comfort.

BMW Motorsport director Jens Marquardt says the update of the VLN-spec car shows the brand’s commitment to customer racing as the Endurance Championship racing series contract has been extended to 2020.

“I am pleased that we are now able to offer our customer teams planning security for a further two years, and to reward them for their loyalty. With the introduction of the BMW M240i Racing Evo package as of the 2019 season, we are taking numerous customer requests into account,” Marquardt said.

BMW Motorsport has raised the prize money for the 2019 season from €75 000 to €100 000. Dunlop, meanwhile, has signed on as the official tyre partner for a further two years.
