The folks over at CarWow have lined up the Mercedes-AMG A45 S and the G63 for an Affalterbach-flavoured drag race.

As a reminder, the A45 S employs a turbocharged 2,0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine offering 310 kW and 500 N.m to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. That’s enough, says Benz’s performance division, for a sprint from standstill to 100 km/h in 3,9 seconds and a top speed of 270 km/h.

And at the other end of the scale? Well, the G63 features a twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8 directing 430 kW and 850 N.m to all four corners through a nine-speed automatic transmissions. Mercedes-AMG claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 4,5 seconds and a top speed of 220 km/h (or, optionally, 240 km/h). While the apex G-Wagen certainly has more power, it's also far heavier and not nearly as slippery through the air.
