Another week, another drag race. This time, the folks over at CarWow have lined up the BMW M2 Competition and the M8 Competition at an airfield.

Yes, it’s a family affair, with the smallest coupé from the M division going up against the largest.

As you’ve no doubt realised, this isn’t exactly a fair battle. For the record, the M2 Competion (here fitted with a raft of extras) employs a turbocharged 3,0-litre straight-six offering the rear wheels some 302 kW and 550 N.m via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The M8 Competition, meanwhile, draws 460 kW and 750 N.m from its turbocharged 4,4-litre V8 heart, directed to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. It's also worth noting the M8 Competition is almost three times the price of its smaller sibling in South Africa.
