Volkswagen California News Updates
Volkswagen has revealed official sketches of its updated California, which follows the unveiling of the Multivan and Transporter earlier in 2019.
Dubbed the California “6.1”, the refreshed campervan gains an “enhanced” interior, a digitalised multifunctional camper control unit (again sited in the roof console), new driver assistance systems, fresh infotainment options and (optional) digital instruments.
Furthermore, VW says the living and sleeping areas of the camper van have been “carefully enhanced and optimised”, while the driver and front passenger sit in front of a redesigned facia that includes the aforementioned new instruments.
As with the Multivan 6.1 revealed in February 2019, the updated California gains electromechanical power steering, which has allowed the German firm to fit various driver assistance systems, such as lane assist, side protection and trailer assist. A side-wind compensation system has also been added to the mix.
VW says power will come from a range of “highly efficient” 2,0-litre turbodiesel engines offering outputs up to 146 kW. The refreshed California is scheduled to be revealed towards the end of August at the Caravan-Salon in Düsseldorf.
