Nissan will reveal its vision for a small, sporty SUV – with flashy gullwing doors - for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show, setting the tone for future designs.

Combining traditional SUV elements with space-age styling, the cube-like Zaroot is given a radical twist with the addition of gullwing doors, which dominate the vehicle’s appearance when open.

Styling at the front is given an ultramodern feel with the familiar Nissan grille being offset by a striking vertical headlamp design. Short overhangs at the front and rear dramatically taper off to give the Zaroot a mean-looking stance.

Senior designer Ryouichi Kuraoka said this SUV “represents the future”, though he reiterated that it is merely a show car that may influence future production vehicles.
