Smart will launch its five-door ForFour urban lifestyle vehicle in South Africa by offering the public activity-packed test drives in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Pretoria on Sundays.

The four-seater ForFour is the latest addition to the Smart range in South Africa, following the introduction of the Roadster earlier this year. "During the next eight weeks we will take the forfour directly to our customers in four South African cities," said Smart's marketing manager Liesel Eales.

Every Sunday, from October 17 to December 5, ForFour experience participants will be able to take the vehicle on a set route, which will include “a picnic brunch and live entertainment at a country estate”, a spokesman for Smart said.

Two models, a 1,3 litre petrol (R139 000) and 1,5 litre petrol (R159 000), will be available. The four-seater ForFour is 3,75m long, weighs less than 1 000 kg and is said to offer lively performance due to its strong power-to-weight ratio, and good handling courtesy of its wide track and sporty suspension.

Standard safety systems are: electronic stability programme, front and side airbags for the driver and front passenger, pyrotechnical seatbelt tensioners and disc brakes. Remote central locking, audio- and navigation systems, electric windows and air-conditioning with micro-filters complete the luxury package.
