Ford has released fresh footage of the new Ranger Raptor in action, confirming that the high-performance off-roader will also be offered in Europe.

The Ranger Raptor is set to go on sale in various European markets in mid-2019 (we expect it in South Africa in early 2019), powered by a twin-turbo 2,0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine delivering 157 kW and 500 N.m of torque, and mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission.

This new engine will be built at Ford’s Struandale engine plant in Port Elizabeth, while the Ranger Raptor itself will be produced both in Thailand and at the Silverton Assembly Plant in Pretoria.

Ford and Microsoft also confirmed that the Ranger Raptor would feature in the new Forza Horizon 4 racing game.

“Forget everything you think you know about pick-ups. Our new Ranger Raptor is a different breed – a thoroughbred desert racer and extreme lifestyle off-roader that can toil with the best of them in the harshest of working conditions,” said Leo Roeks, Ford Performance director for Europe.

“The new Ranger Raptor delivers all the tools a thrill-seeker could ask for. Like a motocross bike, snowmobile and an ATV in one – it’s the ultimate adventure pick-up,” he added.
